The Garrett AT Pro is a versatile, made-in-USA all-terrain metal detector that has earned its reputation as a dependable workhorse for coin, jewelry, relic and cache hunting, as well as gold prospecting and beach or fresh-water detecting. Its 15 kHz frequency improves detection of small targets, gold nuggets and jewelry, while a fast recovery speed helps separate good finds from nearby trash. A weatherproof housing lets the AT Pro shrug off dust, heat and wet ground, and it is submersible to 3 m (10 ft). It offers six search modes — three Standard and three Pro — along with Iron Audio, high-resolution iron discrimination across 40 levels, a 12-segment notchable Target ID, eight sensitivity/depth settings and electronic pinpointing. Can the Garrett AT Pro find gold?
Yes. At 15 kHz the AT Pro is sensitive to gold nuggets and gold jewelry and is widely used for prospecting, though the 18 kHz AT Gold is tuned specifically for the smallest gold in heavily mineralised ground.
How deep and how waterproof is the AT Pro?
Depth depends on target size and soil, but the AT Pro reaches up to about 3 m on large objects. The detector is fully submersible to 3 m (10 ft), so it works on beaches, in rivers and in fresh water.
What is Pro Audio and why does it matter?
Pro Audio adds proportional and Tone-Roll sound that rises and falls with a target's conductivity, depth and shape. Instead of a simple on/off beep, you hear detail that helps you judge whether a signal is worth digging.
