AO Gold Detectors is Abdlekarim Omer International Trading L.L.C, a licensed Dubai trading company on Baniyas Road in Deira, a few minutes from the Gold Souk. You can walk in, put a Minelab GPX 6000 or a Garrett Axiom in your hands, hear it run, and ask whatever you need in Arabic, French or English before you decide.
We carry the full Minelab and Garrett ranges, OKM and GER Detect long-range locators, XRF analysers and gemstone testers for the jewellery trade, and walk-through archways and hand-held scanners for security work. Everything is brand-new, sealed and covered by the manufacturer's own warranty — we are an authorised reseller, which counts for a great deal in a market where clones and grey imports circulate freely. Prices are in AED and cards are accepted in the shop.
A large part of what we do is export. Customers fly into Dubai from across Africa and the Gulf to buy equipment they cannot source at home, often several units at a time. How to choose
- Come and handle it if you can. We are on Baniyas Road in Deira, minutes from the Gold Souk — on a purchase this size, thirty minutes in the shop tells you more than thirty reviews.
- Ask to see the box, the seal and the serial. An authorised unit carries the manufacturer's warranty; a grey import or a clone does not, and Dubai's market has both. If a price looks far below everyone else's, that is the reason.
- Buying to take home? Tell us the destination before you pay. We prepare the commercial invoice and export paperwork, and we will tell you honestly what the courier and any duty at your end are likely to cost.
- Detecting in the UAE itself is a beach and desert hobby, not gold prospecting. For Al Mamzar or Jumeirah sand, a waterproof multi-frequency machine like the Minelab Equinox handles salt far better than a gold-specific detector.
- Jewellers and gold buyers should look at XRF analysis or a gemstone tester rather than a ground detector — different instruments entirely, and we stock both.

Which detector suits detecting in the UAE?
For the beaches at Al Mamzar and Jumeirah, a waterproof multi-frequency machine like the Minelab Equinox is the strongest choice — salt sand confuses single-frequency detectors, while multi-frequency handles it cleanly and stays sensitive to small jewellery. For the open desert, a good all-terrain VLF with a large coil covers ground efficiently. Many of our UAE customers also buy here for prospecting trips abroad, in which case a gold-specific machine such as the GPX 6000 or Gold Monster 1000 is the better fit. That is a large part of what we do. Tell us the destination country and how many units before you pay, and we will prepare a proper commercial invoice and the export paperwork, pack the units for travel or freight, and arrange a courier if you would rather not carry them. We will also give you a realistic view of what customs and duty are likely to cost at your end — it is better to know before you buy than to be surprised at the airport.
How do I avoid fake or grey-market detectors in Dubai?
Buy from an authorised reseller and check three things: the sealed box, the serial number, and whether the warranty is the manufacturer's or just the shop's. Clones of popular gold detectors do circulate in this region, and grey imports — genuine units brought in outside the official channel — carry no support if they fail. A price far below everyone else's is the clearest warning sign there is.
Do you supply security scanners and XRF analysers to UAE businesses?
Yes. Alongside prospecting equipment we supply walk-through archways and hand-held scanners for hotels, venues, schools and security firms, and XRF analysers and gemstone testers for jewellers, refiners and gold buyers. These are different instruments from ground detectors and are usually chosen on throughput, certification and support rather than depth.
