The Garrett ATX is a professional pulse-induction gold and metal detector built in the USA to military-grade standards, designed to conquer the harshest conditions — highly mineralised, salty, wet and rocky ground, on land or fully submerged. Its sealed housing is waterproof to 3 m (10 ft), making it equally at home in the desert, the goldfield or the surf, and a Double-D search coil delivers high sensitivity to both tiny nuggets and large gold. Advanced ground balancing spans heavily mineralised soil through to saltwater without changing modes, aided by Fast Track and automatic Ground Track plus a Quick Iron Check, while adjustable discrimination and a threshold tone refine target response. The ATX detects all metals at once in distinct tones, offers both motion and non-motion modes, and adds electronic pinpointing, LED signal and setting indicators, an integrated speaker with headphones, automatic frequency scan and volume control. The shaft collapses to under 51 cm for transport, and the detector is backed by a 2-year manufacturer warranty.

Depth depends on target size and ground, but the ATX's pulse-induction circuitry reaches up to about 3 m on larger targets while staying sensitive to small gold nuggets.
Is the ATX waterproof?
Yes. The ATX is fully submersible to 3 m (10 ft), so it can be used in rivers, surf and shallow water. Note that the standard MS-2 headphones are for land use; waterproof headphones are sold separately for submersion.
Which coil comes with the ATX, and can I change it?
It ships with a 10″ × 12″ Double-D coil that suits most ground. Optional Mono coils such as the 8″ (small gold, tight spots) and 15″ × 20″ (depth and coverage) are available for dedicated gold hunting.
