Overview

The UIG Gold Digger is the conventional, coil-based machine in GER Detect's UIG line: a true VLF induction-balance detector that sweeps a 35 × 25 cm waterproof Double-D coil over the ground and reads the return signal in real time. GER Detect specifies a selectable operating frequency of 5–45 kHz, which is the range that matters in gold work — lower settings for larger, deeper masses, higher settings for the small, low-conductivity targets that raw gold and thin jewellery produce. Seven search programs are supplied: General Search, Small Target, High Depth, Hard Soil, Smart Scan, Target Localisation (pinpoint) and a Custom program that stores the frequency signatures of more than twenty metals, so you can accept or ignore each one individually. Discrimination between precious and non-precious metals is automatic. Everything is driven from a 4.3-inch full-colour capacitive touchscreen (480 × 272 px) running on 72 MHz processing, with audio through a built-in speaker (350–5,500 Hz) or headphones. The external 11.1 V / 27 Wh lithium-ion pack is rated by the manufacturer at around 10 hours per charge. The detector with coil weighs 1,700 g and the shaft extends from 955 mm to 1,345 mm, which keeps long sweeping sessions comfortable; the complete kit in its case weighs 5,250 g. One detail from GER Detect's own specification sheet matters in the field: the search coil is sealed to 100 cm, but the control unit is weatherproof only and must never be submerged. The interface runs in six languages — Arabic, English, German, French, Spanish and Portuguese — and the unit carries CE and ISO 9001:2015 certification with a two-year manufacturer warranty. As with any VLF machine, realistic depth depends on target size, coil size and soil mineralisation: expect roughly 30 cm on a coin-sized object and around 1.3 m on a large buried mass in low-mineralisation ground, with the optional 18-inch AP coil trading small-target sensitivity for extra reach.

Frequently asked questions

Is the UIG Gold Digger a real coil detector?
Yes. It is a conventional VLF induction-balance detector: you sweep a 35 × 25 cm Double-D search coil over the ground and the machine responds to metal directly beneath it — the same physics used by every mainstream gold detector. That also makes it the machine you can verify yourself: bury a gold ring or a coin at a known depth in your own soil and check the response before you take it out prospecting.
How deep will it actually detect?
Depth depends on target size, coil size and soil mineralisation, not on the machine alone. With the supplied 35 × 25 cm coil, plan on roughly 30 cm for a coin-sized object and around 1.3 m on a large buried mass in low-mineralisation ground. GER Detect quotes a considerably larger headline figure for very large ancient targets with the optional 18-inch coil; we prefer to give you the working numbers you can expect day to day. High Depth and Smart Scan modes help on bigger targets, while Small Target mode is the one to use for raw gold.
Can I use it in water or in wet wadis?
Partly. GER Detect rates the search coil as sealed to 100 cm, so wet sand, damp wadi beds and shallow streams are fine. The control unit is weatherproof only and must never be submerged — keep it clear of the water and do not use this detector for diving, surf hunting or river wading beyond coil depth.
Which frequency setting should I use for raw gold?
The upper part of the 5–45 kHz range. Higher frequencies respond far better to the small, low-conductivity pieces that natural gold produces, which is why the Small Target program is built around them. Drop to lower frequencies when you are after larger, deeper masses such as buried caches or big bronze objects, and switch to Hard Soil mode when mineralised laterite or ironstone makes the ground noisy. The Custom program stores signatures for more than twenty metals, so you can ignore whatever you keep digging up by mistake.
