Overview

The Minelab Excalibur II is a rugged amphibious metal detector powered by Broad Band Spectrum (BBS) technology, which transmits 17 frequencies at once (1.5–25.5 kHz) for excellent depth and accurate target identification — even in saltwater, where single-frequency machines struggle. Fully submersible to 66 m (200 ft), it moves effortlessly from dry land, beach and wet sand to deep underwater wreck sites, making it a favourite of beachcombers, surf waders and divers. Superior ground rejection greatly reduces false signals in salt and mineralised conditions, so discrimination stays fast and accurate while sensitivity and depth remain strong. Inside the coil, RCB amplifies weak target signals and suppresses noise to lift faint, deep finds. A slimline 10″ Double-D hard-wired coil keeps the weight down and balance neutral, while a rechargeable NiMH battery pack delivers long sessions and high-visibility fluorescent bodywork keeps the unit easy to track in the water. An optional side-mount dive shaft makes shallow-water and surf detecting more comfortable.

Frequently asked questions

How deep underwater can the Excalibur II go?
The whole detector is fully submersible to 66 m (200 ft), so it can be used for scuba diving and deep wreck searches as well as on the beach and in the surf.
Does the Excalibur II work in saltwater?
Yes — that is its specialty. BBS multi-frequency technology with superior ground rejection greatly reduces the false signals that defeat single-frequency detectors on wet salt sand and in the ocean.
What coil does the Excalibur II use, and can it be changed?
It uses a slimline 10″ Double-D coil that is hard-wired to the unit for full waterproof integrity, keeping weight low and balance neutral; an optional side-mount dive shaft is available for surf and shallow-water comfort.
What is the battery life and warranty?
The rechargeable NiMH pack supports long sessions of roughly 12 to 19 hours depending on settings, and the detector carries a 1-year manufacturer warranty.
