Overview

The Minelab GPX 5000 is the evolution of the legendary GPX 4500 and a top choice for serious gold prospectors. It runs advanced bi-level pulse induction with Minelab's exclusive Multi-Period Sensing (MPS), Dual Voltage Technology (DVT) and Smart Electronic Timing Alignment (SETA) to detect everything from sub-gram nuggets to large, deep gold in heavily mineralised ground — all while running smoothly and quietly. It adds three more soil Timings than the GPX 4500 for a total of eight, alongside six user-programmable preset search modes for easy turn-on-and-go use. Adjustable Iron Reject, automatic ground balance with Fixed and Tracking options and a Quick-Trak button, Rx Gain, noise cancel and full audio controls deliver complete tuning flexibility on the most challenging soils. The GPX 5000 ships with both 11-inch Double-D and Monoloop coils, runs around 12 hours on an external rechargeable lithium battery with a built-in speaker amplifier, weighs about 2.4 kg with the coil, and carries a 3-year manufacturer warranty.

Frequently asked questions

How is the GPX 5000 different from the GPX 4500?
The GPX 5000 builds on the GPX 4500 with bi-level pulse induction and eight soil Timings (three more than the 4500), giving improved depth and signal quality on the smallest and deepest gold.
How deep does the Minelab GPX 5000 detect gold?
Depth depends on target size and soil, but large targets can be reached to around 3 m with the included coils, while sub-gram nuggets are still detected near the surface.
Which coils come with the GPX 5000?
It ships with two 11-inch coils — a Double-D for steady coverage in mineralised ground and a Monoloop for maximum depth and sensitivity on nuggets.
What battery and warranty does it have?
It runs on an external rechargeable lithium battery for roughly 12 hours per charge and is backed by a 3-year manufacturer warranty.
