Overview

The Minelab SDC 2300 is a compact, assembly-free pulse-induction gold detector built to find small gold — including sub-gram nuggets — on land and underwater. Its MPF (Multi-Period Fast) technology switches rapidly between transmit and receive to deliver sharp, sensitive detection of the tiny gold scattered through highly mineralised or variable ground that many VLF and PI detectors miss, unlocking old fields once thought to be worked out. The rugged one-piece platform is built and tested to military specifications and folds to just 40 cm for backpacks and carry-on bags, while staying fully submersible to 3 m for riverbeds and shorelines. Audio plus nine LED indicators help judge target size and depth, with automatic ground tracking, Normal and Salt detect modes, adjustable sensitivity and an adjustable threshold. Fitted with an 8-inch Monoloop coil and powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack (with a four C-cell option), it weighs about 2.3 kg and carries a 3-year warranty — an ideal go-anywhere prospecting machine.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Minelab SDC 2300 waterproof?
Yes. The SDC 2300 is fully submersible to 3 m (10 ft), so you can detect in riverbeds, creeks and along shorelines, then switch straight back to dry land.
What size gold can the SDC 2300 find?
It is designed for small gold, including sub-gram nuggets. Its MPF pulse induction excels at the fine, shallow gold in highly mineralised ground that many other detectors overlook.
Does the SDC 2300 need assembly?
No. It is a one-piece detector that folds down to about 40 cm for transport and is ready to detect as soon as it is unfolded — no tools or assembly required.
How is the SDC 2300 powered?
It runs on a rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack supplied with a charger, and can also accept four C-cell batteries (not supplied) as a backup in the field.
