Overview

The Minelab Vanquish 340 is the entry point to the Vanquish series — a turn-on-and-go metal detector built around Minelab's Multi-IQ simultaneous multi-frequency technology. By transmitting and receiving across several frequencies at once, it delivers reliable Target ID, discrimination and depth across varied ground, including mineralised soil and wet sand, making it a great first detector for parks, fields and beaches. It offers three preset Find Modes — Coin, Jewellery and All Metal — plus a digital Target ID (-9 to 40), a five-segment discrimination scale, selectable iron bias, four sensitivity levels and three volume levels with automatic noise cancel and lag-free audio. A pinpoint shortcut and red backlight add convenience in tricky spots and low light. Lightweight at about 1.2 kg on a collapsible snap-lock shaft, it ships with a waterproof V10 10×7-inch Double-D coil rated to 1 m and a rain-proof control pod, runs on four AA batteries, and is backed by a 3-year warranty.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Minelab Vanquish 340 good for beginners?
Yes. It is a turn-on-and-go detector with three preset Find Modes and an easy single-screen interface, while Multi-IQ multi-frequency gives accurate results without manual tuning.
Can the Vanquish 340 be used on the beach or in water?
Multi-IQ handles wet salt sand well, and the V10 coil is waterproof to 1 m for shallow water and surf. The control pod is rain-proof but must not be submerged.
What does the Target ID number mean?
The screen shows a value from -9 to 40. Numbers from -9 to 0 indicate ferrous metals (iron, nails, foil), while 1 to 40 indicate non-ferrous metals such as silver, copper and gold.
What battery does the Vanquish 340 use?
It runs on four standard AA batteries (included), which makes replacements easy to find anywhere in the field.
