Overview

The Gold Stinger X6 is a conventional swing-coil detector, and the part that actually does the work is a real search coil — the X6 ships with two of them. The compact G.S 30 gives tighter target separation and better response on small objects, while the larger G.S 50 covers more ground per swing and reaches deeper on bigger masses. Stinger Detectors describes both as all-purpose coils with a waterproof housing; the control unit itself is not waterproof and no IP rating is published. Around that coil sits the practical detecting kit you expect from a serious machine: automatic G-Balance ground balancing, a discrimination system, full all-metal search, precise pinpointing and a depth indicator that estimates target depth in centimetres. The 4.6-inch HD colour LCD shows a numeric target ID from 0 to 99 on a colour-coded yellow/red/green scale, plus a 2-D colour graph in discrimination mode that separates gold, other precious metals, non-precious metals and voids. Field tuning runs through sensitivity and gain, a ZB filter for mineralised or wet ground, a hot-rock filter and a Turbo mode that Stinger Detectors states adds up to 30% depth. The interface runs in eight languages including Arabic, English and French, telescopic aluminium shafts keep the machine light through long sessions, and the manufacturer rates the Li-Po battery at up to 12 hours of continuous use with a full charge in about four hours. Stinger Detectors also advertises a maximum reach of up to 5 metres and 95% discrimination accuracy; those are the manufacturer's figures and we pass them on as such. In ordinary ground, plan around what a coil this size can realistically do: coin-sized gold within roughly the top 30 cm, and large buried masses to about 1.5 m, depending on soil mineralisation, target orientation and which coil is fitted.

Frequently asked questions

How deep does the Gold Stinger X6 really go?
Stinger Detectors advertises up to 5 metres, and we pass that on as the manufacturer's figure rather than our own. What matters when you plan a hunt is what a coil this size does in practice: roughly 30 cm on a coin-sized gold target and up to about 1.5 metres on a large buried mass. Soil mineralisation, target orientation and coil choice move those numbers either way, and the G.S 50 coil with Turbo mode is what you reach for when you want the extra depth.
What is the difference between the G.S 30 and G.S 50 coils?
Both are supplied in the box, so you can match the coil to the site. The smaller G.S 30 gives tighter target separation and a stronger response to small objects, which suits trashy ground, tight spots, small nuggets and jewellery. The larger G.S 50 covers more ground per swing and reaches deeper on big masses, which suits open fields and cache hunting. Changing coils takes about a minute.
Is the Gold Stinger X6 a long-range locator or a 3D imaging scanner?
Neither. It is a conventional coil detector that you swing over the ground, with no long-range antennas. Its Cavity Test and Target Scan features are on-screen readouts inside that coil detector, not a 3D ground-imaging system. That is a strength rather than a limitation: every signal it reports comes from a real electromagnetic response under the coil, so you can dig it and verify it on the spot.
What comes in the box, and what warranty does it carry?
The package contains the X6 control unit, both the G.S 30 and G.S 50 search coils, the telescopic aluminium shafts and mounting screws, coil cable, headphones, arm strap, charger and the user manual. On warranty we prefer to be straight with you: Stinger Detectors does not publish a warranty period on the official product page and dealer listings disagree with each other, so rather than print a figure we cannot source we confirm the exact cover in writing with your order.
