Overview

The Garrett Sea Hunter Mark II is a pulse-induction underwater metal detector built for surf hunting, treasure diving, beach and freshwater searching. Its PI circuitry automatically cancels saltwater and most ground mineralisation — the conditions that defeat ordinary detectors — making it a longtime favourite for divers chasing coins, jewelry, relics and gold. Fully submersible to 200 feet (65 m) with included underwater headphones, it pairs an 8-inch PROformance mono coil with a near-neutral buoyancy design that is easy to swing on long dives. Two discrimination modes adapt to the site: Discrete Trash Elimination removes most pull-tabs and foil so you keep rings and coins without heavily sacrificing sensitivity, while Standard Trash Elimination gives the deepest all-metal detection for clean ground. The sealed control housing mounts on a short or long stem, on the hip or under the cuff, with an independently sealed battery compartment and a hip-mount belt pouch for all-day comfort. It runs on 8 AA batteries and is backed by a one-year limited warranty.

Frequently asked questions

How deep underwater can the Sea Hunter Mark II go?
It is fully submersible to 200 feet (65 m), so it works for shallow wading, surf hunting and full scuba diving. Submersible headphones are included.
Does it work in saltwater?
Yes. Its pulse-induction circuitry automatically cancels saltwater and most ground mineralisation, which is exactly where standard VLF detectors struggle.
What is the difference between the two modes?
Discrete Trash Elimination rejects most pull-tabs and foil so you recover rings and coins with less junk, while Standard Trash Elimination keeps all metals for the deepest possible detection on clean ground.
What powers it and what coil does it use?
It runs on 8 AA batteries housed in an independently sealed compartment and ships with an 8-inch PROformance mono search coil. It carries a one-year limited warranty.
