Overview

The Nokta PulseDive Scuba Detector is a hand-held pulse-induction machine built for the water. Its sealed IP68 body carries a manufacturer rating for submersion to 60 m (200 ft) — deep enough for genuine scuba work rather than just wading — and its 3 kHz pulse circuit ignores saltwater, wet sand and black-sand mineralisation, the conditions that unsettle VLF detectors. The supplied 20 cm (8") scuba coil gives real sweep coverage for rings, chains, coins and dropped metal, while the complete unit measures 45 cm and weighs 550 g with the coil cover fitted, so it swings one-handed and clips to a BCD, belt or wrist. Operation is deliberately simple for gloved hands and poor visibility: three alert modes — audio, vibration, audio + vibration — plus a red LED that flashes faster as you close on a target, five sensitivity levels, a one-press rapid retune and 40 steps of frequency shift to escape another detector working nearby. Dive Mode locks the keypad so water pressure cannot change your settings at depth, an LED flashlight lights the recovery hole, and a lost alarm beeps and flashes after five minutes of inactivity. Power comes from an internal 1650 mAh lithium-polymer battery charged over USB in about two hours, and a built-in 2.4 GHz module pairs with Nokta Green Edition wireless headphones (sold separately). Note that the 60 m figure is a submersion rating, not a detection range: this is a short-range water probe for recovery work, not a deep-seeking prospecting detector, and the 14 cm (5.5") pointer coil that converts it into a pinpointer is an optional extra.

IP68 sealed housing with a manufacturer submersion rating of 60 m (200 ft)
Dive Mode locks the keypad so water pressure cannot alter your settings at depth
Three alert modes — audio, vibration, audio + vibration — plus a red LED that flashes faster as you close on the target
Five sensitivity levels, one-press rapid retune, and 40-step frequency shift against interference from a nearby detector
Twist-lock coil mount: supplied with the 20 cm (8") scuba coil and cover, and accepts the optional 14 cm (5.5") pointer coil
Built-in 2.4 GHz wireless module pairs directly with Nokta Green Edition headphones — no separate transmitter (headphones sold separately)

Frequently asked questions

Can the PulseDive Scuba really be taken to 60 m?
Yes — Nokta gives the sealed IP68 housing a submersion rating of 60 m (200 ft) and adds a Dive Mode that locks the buttons so water pressure cannot change your settings. Before every dive, check the coil is twisted on securely, both O-rings are seated and the battery cover is tight. The coil must never be removed underwater, and the unit should be rinsed in tap water after saltwater use.
How deep in the sand will it actually detect a target?
Nokta publishes no target-detection depth for the PulseDive, and the 60 m figure is a submersion rating, not a detection range. With the 20 cm (8") coil this is a short-range recovery detector: expect targets in the upper tens of centimetres of sand or silt, not the metre-plus depths of a full-size prospecting machine. It is best used to sweep small, high-value areas and to recover what you have already located.
Is this a detector or a pinpointer?
As supplied it is a detector: this package ships with the 20 cm (8") scuba coil only. The patented twist-lock mount also accepts Nokta's 14 cm (5.5") pointer coil, which turns the same control unit into a hand-held pinpointer in seconds — but that coil is an optional extra here. Nokta also offers a separate 2-in-1 Set that includes both coils, a belt holster and a hard case.
Will it find buried gold in the desert?
No — this is the wrong tool for prospecting. The PulseDive is a short-range pulse-induction water probe designed to recover jewellery, coins and dropped metal from sand, silt and the seabed. Its pulse circuit does handle mineralised and black-sand ground well, which makes it a useful companion probe on a wet beach or a wadi, but for nugget hunting in the Sahel or the Gulf you need a dedicated prospecting detector with a full-size coil and ground balance.
