Titan 500 Smart
Four search systems, one long-range unit — gold, gemstones, diamonds and depth.
GER Detect Titan 500 Smart is a German-made long-range locator that works through directional antennas rather than a search coil, with four selectable systems covering gold and precious metals, gemstones, diamonds, and depth determination.
Overview
The Titan 500 Smart is a long-range locator (LRL) rather than a coil detector. A compact handheld unit, held level in front of the operator, works with a set of interchangeable antennas — a super antenna, signal-enhancer antennas and a receiver antenna — to indicate a bearing towards a target, then guides the operator in from four directions to fix its centre. A full-colour touch screen carries the whole interface: you pick the target from four systems — gold, precious metals and buried treasure; gemstones in 18 varieties; diamonds; and a depth-determination and analysis system — then set the continent, the ground type and the front range before starting the search. GER Detect specifies a selectable front range from 100 m up to 3,000 m and a search depth of up to 120 m; both figures are the manufacturer's own specification. Once a centre has been marked, the depth system is run separately: the operator stands back from the marked point, activates the mode and walks in until the unit reports the estimated depth. Everything travels in a shock-resistant carrying and protective case: the main unit and its holder, the super antenna, the enhancer antennas, the receiver antenna, a mains charger and a car charger. The manufacturer lists a 480 × 272-pixel full-colour touch LCD, an internal 27 Wh rechargeable lithium-ion battery quoted at around ten hours per charge, and a menu in six languages — German, English, French, Italian, Spanish and Arabic. GER Detect gives a complete-kit weight of about 6 kg and case dimensions of 52 × 24 × 42 cm, describes the unit as weatherproof rather than waterproof, and covers it with a two-year warranty against electronic breakdowns, with CE and ISO 9001 marking and manufacture in Germany. It is aimed at operators who survey wide open ground — prospecting teams and treasure searchers who want to narrow a large area down to a few marked points before bringing in a coil detector and digging.
