OKM Rover UC
German 3D ground scanning — folded into a 500 g walking pole.
OKM Rover UC is an ultra-compact German 3D ground scanner with an SCMI-15-D single-sensor telescopic probe, offering 3D Ground Scan, Magnetometer and Pinpointer modes controlled from an included Android smartwatch over Bluetooth 5.2.
Overview
The Rover UC is OKM's smallest ground scanner: a telescopic probe that extends from 670 mm to 1,380 mm, folds down to 67 cm and weighs about 0.5 kg — light enough to travel as a walking pole. Inside the rod sits a single SCMI-15-D sensor taking 240 measurements per second at 15-bit resolution, using OKM's GST / EMSR measurement principle. All three modes run off that one sensor. Magnetometer mode reads the local magnetic field and is the mode most owners use most: it sweeps a plot quickly, shows where iron and ferrous rubbish sit, and lets you clear a field before committing to a slower scan. Pinpointer mode narrows a signal down to a spot and gives basic discrimination between ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic metal, as well as cavities. 3D Ground Scan mode walks parallel or zigzag lines with manual or automatic pulse triggering and builds a graphical three-dimensional picture of the scan field. Everything is controlled from the included Android smartwatch, which pairs over Bluetooth 5.2 (approx. 8 m line of sight) and runs the OKM app in 14 languages, Arabic and French among them. You set the scan field, watch the measurement build line by line, and open the finished 3D graphic on the watch itself — no phone or tablet needed in the field. Scans then transfer to the pre-configured Windows notebook supplied in the kit, where Visualizer 3D Studio Standard Edition renders them larger and gives an indication of buried object size and shape. The internal battery charges over USB-C in about three hours and OKM rates operating time at roughly 48 hours, within a working range of −5 °C to +60 °C. On depth, OKM states that customers have found objects down to 20 m (65 ft). That is a manufacturer statement drawn from customer reports rather than a measured specification, and results on any scanner depend entirely on soil, target size and how carefully the scan field is walked — so treat the magnetometer and pinpointer modes as the capabilities you can verify for yourself on day one.
