Caring for your detector in harsh climates

Heat, dust and vibration are the three enemies of every detector in the field. None of them are dramatic — they wear a machine down quietly, over months, until a connector fails at the worst possible moment.

The daily five minutes

  • Brush dust from the coil and shaft joints before packing.
  • Wipe contacts dry; never store a damp connector.
  • Loosen the coil bolt slightly for transport to spare the thread.

Bring the machine to us once a season and we will re-seal, re-calibrate and test it. Most detectors that "stop finding gold" were never broken — only neglected.
