GER Detect Titan 1000: five systems and the price
The Titan GER 1000 is the machine most people mean when they ask us about GER Detect. It is the German manufacturer's five-system flagship below the X13, it ships with two real search coils rather than antennae alone, and at USD 34,500 it sits at the top end of what most buyers will consider. This is what it includes, what the stated figures are, and who ends up buying one.
Five systems in one case
The Titan 1000's selling point is that it replaces several separate instruments. GER Detect specifies five search systems in the one unit, each aimed at a different stage of the job.
- Long-range location — selectable front range in steps, quoted by the manufacturer up to 2,500 m, used to pick a direction before you commit to ground.
- Ionic field detection — aimed at long-buried gold, diamonds and gemstones that have been in the ground long enough to develop a detectable ion field.
- Magnetometer — reads ferrous ground and iron targets, which is how you rule out scrap before digging.
- 3D imaging — scans the ground layer by layer and renders targets and voids on screen with an indicated depth.
- Pulse induction — a conventional PI search using the supplied coils, for close-in confirmation once the area is narrowed.
The long-range system lets you select a single target metal before you search — gold, natural gold, silver, copper, bronze, platinum, diamonds, gemstones, cavities, iron, aluminium or lead — so the unit reports on the one thing you care about rather than everything in the ground.
The coils matter more than the antennae
What separates the Titan 1000 from cheaper long-range units is that it comes with genuine search coils: an 8-inch and a 17-inch. The smaller coil handles close work and small targets; the 17-inch is the depth coil for open ground. That pulse-induction stage is a normal detector search, and it is the part of the system that confirms a target rather than merely pointing at one.
This is the practical workflow most owners settle into: use the long-range and ionic systems to narrow a large area to a workable patch, switch to the magnetometer to understand what iron is present, then walk the patch with the PI coil to find the actual target and its depth. Buying the machine for only one of those systems is how people end up disappointed.
Stated range and depth
GER Detect quotes a selectable front range starting at 500 m and stepping through 1,000, 1,500, 2,000 and 2,500 m, with a stated ground depth of up to 45 m on the magnetometer system. Those are the manufacturer's figures. As with any deep-search equipment, what you achieve on your own ground depends on soil conditions, target size and how well the operator knows the machine — which is why we would rather talk through your ground with you before you order than quote a number and leave you to it.
The unit runs in English, German, French and Arabic, and the complete kit with accessories weighs around 5 kg, which matters when you are carrying it across open country in heat.
Where it sits in the GER Detect range
The Titan 1000 is not the only option, and it is not automatically the right one.
- Titan 400 Smart — USD 15,000. Four systems built around a real 10 kHz VLF coil. The entry into the range for buyers who want a genuine detector plus long-range capability.
- Titan 500 Smart — USD 21,000. Four search systems aimed at gold, gemstones, diamonds and depth in a single long-range unit.
- Titan GER 1000 — USD 34,500. Five systems and two real coils; the strongest machine in the mainstream Titan line.
- Titan X13 — USD 44,500. Thirteen search systems built around a 17-inch pulse-induction coil, for buyers who want the full instrument set.
Buy the Titan 1000 for the coils and the PI stage, not only for the range figure.
Who actually buys one
In our experience the Titan 1000 goes to two groups. The first is cooperatives and teams working large concessions in West and Central Africa, where covering ground quickly matters and the cost is shared across an operation. The second is established dealers and prospectors who already own a conventional gold detector and want the imaging and long-range stages to prioritise where to work next.
If you own no detector at all, we would usually suggest starting elsewhere — a Minelab GPX or Garrett Axiom will find gold on ground you already know, at a fraction of the price. The Titan comes into its own when the problem is which ground to work, not how to search it.
